I have rename the faces-config.xml and
- the phase listener is working fine.
- the shale view controller methods that were called tree times are now called two times.
It seems that I have another configuration problem to solve

Have you configured WEB-INF/faces-config.xml in web.xml ? If so, it is being parsed twice and the l isteners are being registered twice. The next release will have a log warning for this.
