It is probably wise to do it, sometimes there are build artefacts from ides etc... lingering.I usually if something breaks first try a mvn clean (with eclipse being shut down)
and if that does not work out I refetch the project. I am not aware of a build breakage recently. (But last time I updated was about two days ago)
