Perhaps you are looking for the clientId method? Try binding your UIComponent
to a backing bean
<h:inputFoo binding="#{b.comp}" />
Then, in javascript.
<h:outputText value="#{b.comp.clientId}" />
You can also call getClientId() on the component itself.
