I have more time to answer this now. Onload generally is problematic, because you only have one, if you do an onload and there is an onload then you overwrite that one. This happens here. Better is to cascade it. Also have in mind that there is the problem of ie going hairwire if you do dom alterations during the onload phase (or close afterwards) this is a bug known but not fixed by Microsoft. So the best approach is that onload is not used at all, in my experience. The component itself is only at fault there because it adds something to the onload cascade, but that does not help of the onload is not kascaded but overwritten.
