Have you tried using the Focus component. It is in the sandbox.

Hi, I am using multiple panelTabs within a panelTabbedPane-component. After submitting data I validate input on the server and - in case of an error - want to directly set the focus on the erroneous input field. Unfortunately on the client side I am always redirected to the panelTab I came from (the one, where I triggered the submit button). Any ideas or experiences to redirect to a specified panelTab after returning from serverside validation? Thanx and best regards, Hs.
