We can't use id's directly for security reasons. It's not the selection that is the problem, but the selection in combination with the expression to do the count and compare it with 0 to show the 'No items found' text.
The problem is realy strange, and i can't reproduce it on other pages. I tried to make a simple example but there everything works just fine. I double checked, tripple checked and quadruple checked my code but can't find anything that is wrong.
