Once I understand the issues involved, I'll probably create a ticket on adding a t:dataTable attribute to fix the problem for JSF 1.1. I'm still not entirely certain what the side-effects of using preserveRowStates=true are. We probably should add the JSF 1.1 dataTable issue to our FAQ or common problems page.
