Matthias, It was a very minor inconvenience for me. I just got the examples out of svn. I brought up the issue for people who might look for said examples in the distribution (which makes a lot of sense). You guys are very busy and do some amazing things. I was trying to put my "new user hat" on. I was imagining that I am new to JSF. I decide on MyFaces. I go to the "Getting Started Page" of MyFaces. It tells me to get the examples from the download page, and they are not there. Then there is much weeping and gnashing of teeth perhaps a bit of cussing and maybe just maybe a bit of: "Screw it.... I'll just use Struts". Sorry for any appearance of drama... It is Monday and I feel like being jovial no anger intended. :o) I submitted a non-jovial JIRA issue for this.
