Yeah, I really don't think this can be emphasised too much. Doing this in JSF/facelets takes about 10 minutes. Doing it in JSF/JSP is going to take days. That's why I can only tell you what I did a year ago: I don't do things like this anymore -- I have better uses for my time than trying to make composite components in standard JSF/JSP.
