It would be a nice enhancement, I have also had problems using the tabbedpane. I would like to use the serverSideTabSwitch="false", but when I submit on a tab my app returns to the the first tab in the tabpane. It worked when I put the tabbedpane inside a form - but that gives me other troubles....
If I set the serverSideTabSwitch="true" it submits the forms inside all tabs and if pres a menu inside one of the tabs in the tabpane I get a nullpointer exception on a changed selectitem wich changes on submit. I must admit im about to drop the tabpane and use a horizontal menu with divs, which I hide and unhide instead...
