I completely agree, but we took a vote on myfaces-dev on this issue not too long ago, and the consensus was that these are requirements for promotion, but not requirements for acceptance into the sandbox.
ok, maybe I also voted against that. but... the experience from the past (last month or so) showed that it's good to have *strong* guide/requirement for new component. Take some of the ajaxInputXXX things. The issues with these components are sorta "spam", each week new (unanswered) questions or new issues. The problem (for me) is, that I think providing sample components is good..., but if they are developed only for a special use case than they shouldn't go to the sandbox.
