Thanks for the reply. I actually subscribed to the Jackrabbit's
mailing list the same way I did for the rest of the mailing lists. I
first thought that maybe that there has been a problem with my first
registration, so I re-registered this address and the second time I
got a message saying that the address is already registered. I am
really confused. A message I had sent to the list a day before
yesterday has not appeared so far in the list...

I don't know if this is the actual cause in your case, but it is exactly
what I would expect if you were posting to that list from an address that is
not subscribed to it.  In that case, the message will go to the moderator's
queue to be manually approved.

You are subscribed to the Jackrabbit user list under the gmail address you
posted from here ... but make sure you have GMail configured to send that as
the sender address, not something else.
