Ok, problem solved. Our app had a workaround to support bindings for alias beans in tomahawk 1.1.1 (not as nice as the new solution), and this hadn't been disabled.
It was apparently interacting unpleasantly with the new binding code :-(. Sorry for the noise. Simon
