You don't have to learn how to write tag component classes if you use facelets, you don't have to worry about verbatim tags, you don't have to learn to shoe-horn tiles into JSP/JSF (which doesn't work well). It is easier to use that JSP. I would recommend the time as it will save you enormous amounts of time down the road
