Can you have a look if the response comes correctly through? Take firebug or some other tool in order to let you show the GET-request/response. The response should have a format like this: [["a 1","A"],["a 2","A"],]
firebug says that response is excatly as You say... first element is suggest, second element is uppercased first letter

nope; console is clear, no errors, no warnings, no msgs do i need to wite anythingt but jsp page and backing bean? maybe little magic xml id faces-config or web.xml?
