can you compare your settings (web.xml and libs) with the demo apps ?
Perhaps the doc. is not uptodate...

commons-el.jar file (there's no jsp.jar in myfaces v1.1.4), clean my webapp
and tomcat cache, redeploy, restart and still get the issue. Any idea what
else could I do?
