I started learning JSF a few weeks ago. I must say I am impressed with how easy it is do JSF developement, but I am curious about how does JSF app scale and perform? Supose I have a 2GHz p4 with 2GB ram for a low end server with Tomcat 5.5 Sun JDK 5.0 and the latest MyFaces, is there a way I could predict how many users can the Server handle before getting processor resources up to 100 %. Since I don't want to write a complex app in JSF and when it is finished I would come to the conclusion(JMeter tests) that the client that the JSF app was developed for has server that are not capable of sufficiently handling the specified amounth or users. How about server side state saving, how much memory does that take per user? For lets say a form with 30 input boxes and 20 selectItems? Any other general performance/scaling comments are welcome. Like I mentioned I just started using JSF.
