the input component needs additionally a <f:convertDateTime> component
Example:
<t:inputCalendar value="#{date1}" id="date1" renderAsPopup="true"
renderPopupButtonAsImage="true"
...
popupSelectDateMessage="Das Datum [date] wurde gewählt">
<f:convertDateTime pattern="dd.MM.yyyy" ></f:convertDateTime>
