We are using Spring in other parts of the framework but not on our Backing Beans. This would take some rework to use Spring on the front-end beans. Also upgrading to Spring 2.0 would take some work as well and we are already behind.
I am aware that you can do this in Spring but could not find an easy way to do it in JSF.
