Hmm maybe they just weren't working as I expected at the time... perhaps I was thinking along the lines of submitSubFormOnly type behaviour...

Hmm shouldn't we have a way to keep subforms from submitting what is
outside of them? Similar to what ajax4jsf does with its region
attributes i.e. renderRegionOnly.
