Null values have to be represented with special marker strings, and
then changed to null as part of using your converter.

SelectItem does not allow null as a value for itemValue.   I think
this might have been fixed for the JSF 1.2 spec.

Again, another way to handle this is to enhance tomahawk selectItem
(and selectItems) to automatically try to coerce the type like the old
f:selectItem did.  Submit patches if that's important to you.
