JSF Myfaces and XHTML

Does JSF and MyFaces only require HTML 4.01 validation. I have a site that uses Facelets and MyFaces and it fails validation. The biggest error I see repeatadly is:

/"there is no attribute xmlns:"/

Does anyone know a way around this?
