Is there any downside to using 1.0.1 with JSF 1.2?

Yes,

currently the 1.2.1 plugins are on the vote.
Once that vote is done, we start with the release procedure of 1.2.1,
which is basically the JSF 1.2-version of 1.0.1.

In the first week of July, that should become reality.
