Are you testing with the full hostname each time, or with "localhost:port" for your local tests? If the latter, then you are not testing david's suggestion at all.
Even when using the hostname, you might not be testing david's suggestion. Only when testing from the same source network to the same target network would you really be testing that suggestion. You could try putting a static page on the production server with references to a couple of static resources (css, images, etc) then checking response time with the two browsers from the problem location. That should tell you whether the problem is inside the myfaces app (which I doubt). As this thread has so far not shown any reason to think this is a myfaces problem, I think that there is no point in continuing this thread here. This is a myfaces list, not an IE or network group. Of course if you find any evidence that the problem really is with myfaces then please let us know..
