You could change the STYLECLASS_LOADER in AjaxRendererUtils.java to point to one that does not have a background image. Or you could leave that alone and just modify the image to make it blank instead of the blue circle. Lastly and cleaner solution would be to modify the renderer to not write the styleclass at all. But doing this, how will the user know that you are performing an ajax transaction?
