I have now solved the problem through StackOverflow posts. I’ll go ahead and
explain it though.

I’m using NE 11 for a Java Windows app that needs to send emails. In the
Project Window, my SendMail Project tree has a Library folder. In that folder
are references to mail.jar and activation.jar. The files referenced are in a
Windows folder on my hard drive, where I earlier placed them.

My goal was to update the jar files, and my strategy was to first remove the
old ones from the project, then reference the new ones. The problem was how to
remove them.

If I select the mail.jar (in the Project|Library folder) and do right-click a
popup menu has a “Remove “ option, leading me to believe one should be able to
use it to remove the mail.jar from my project, and subsequently add an later
version of it. Trouble is, the Remove option is disabled.

>From StackOverflow I’ve now learned that it can be removed by selecting my
>SendMail Project in the Project Window (rather than the mail.jar in the
>Library folder), left-clicking Properties, then selecting Libraries. This
>displays the ClassPath in a side panel, with the various .jar file Windows
>paths. The one to be removed from the Project can be selected and removed
>from ClassPath. It will then disappear from the Project Library folder.

That’s all well and good, but I still wonder why the Remove option is presented
when the jar file is selected in the NB Project Libraries folder if it’s always
disabled.

Thanks for your support. I love NB!

Not sure what kind of project you're talking about here, can you provide clear
step by step instructions for what's not working for you so that this can be
reproduced and so we can help?

Wanting to update mail.java, I downloaded the latest version and unzipped it to
the HD. My plan was to remove the existing mail.jar and activation.jar from
the Project Libraries folder, then add the new versions. However, a right-click
showed the “Remove” option grayed out. So, thinking it would overwrite, I just
added the new versions. Now I have two mail.jar and two activation.jar, and
have no idea which is which. I have no idea why NB provides the Remove option
then disables.

What am I missing?
