These keys are modifiable in Systems Preferences, so if you're using a keyboard that hasn't been manufactured for Apple, you can tell another key, e.g., the Windows key, to be the ALT key.

On a Mac keyboard option-enter is the magic you need: on my keyboards options is also labelled alt

Probably the Apple keyboard key CMD and then Enter — or just click the lightbulb.

    Hi,

Could somebody please tell me how to do Alt+Enter on Mac (and yes, I
have googled and looked at "help > keyboard shortcuts card" but to no
    avail).

Context: netbeans is suggesting I hit Alt Enter for hints.

    Cheers,
