I found out what was wrong with it. Apparently security update removed almost half of jars in JDK1.8 (my project is using this platform). Why did it do so, I do not know. Anyway, I reinstalled Java 8 JDK (and upgraded from build 251 to 265 along the way). Hanging and problems with opening files disappeared. However, I still have the problem with Maven dependencies search. It never worked for me in neither version 11 nor 12. As I understood, other people do not have this problem and this feature works for them. Can someone help me to find out what is wrong with my installation and how do I enable dependency search.
