This doesn't work for the IDE launchers, either. The IDE version doesn't find a bundled IDE from a relative link too, which is also annoying. Be good to get both fixed, or even consolidate launchers? I'm definitely going to suggest a bundled JRE or JDK, obviously! ;-) At the moment I'm working on a small tool called NBPackage, which is designed to take the IDE or a platform application, bundle it with an optional runtime, and create various native packages. It's an expanded version of what PraxisLIVE does, but moved from Ant / Bash scripts to Java code. Still a work in progress - currently at https://github.com/neilcsmith-net/netbeans-tools/tree/nbpackage/nbpackage if you're interested.
