XML Column Mapping with PostgreSQL 8.3 ?

I'm just evaluating various JPA implementations and the OpenJPA  
support for XML Column Mapping caught my eye.
PostgreSQL 8.3 has an xml data type but the OpenJPA manual only  
mentions "DB2, Oracle and SQLServer".

Will XML Column Mapping work with PostgreSQL?
