In your application initialization I believe you could do something like
this to get a reference to the EntityManagerFactory....
OpenJPAEntityManager oem = OpenJPAPersistence.cast(em);
OpenJPAEntityManagerFactory oemf =
OpenJPAPersistence.cast(oem.getEntityManagerFactory());
