Yes because if you look at BrokerImpl you can see it checks:
1) Is it manageable
a) Persistence capable
b) not null
if a and b are true then is it a registered class
Next it gets the persistence context. This is where I have a suspicion the
issue is occurring

Do you agree with me that it's proper for sm to be null if the object is
detached? Can you tell me the values of _broker.isDetachedNew() and
_broker.isDetached(obj) when the failure occurs?
