There appears to be a bug in Spring 3.0.1.  The JPA 'PersistenceVersion' is
hardwired to '1.0'.  I have  http://jira.springframework.org/browse/SPR-6975
filed a bug  against Spring.  I'll aim for a patch, but can't promise
anything.
