Hi Bill, Permalink is a control that you can add to OpenLayers. Its appearance is a standard HTML anchor <a> but what happens is that as you pan/zoom the map (and hide/show layers as well, I believe), the href value in the anchor is updated so that whenever you click it, it will point you to that exact state of the map.
