Like a glow effect? Or an actual stroke around the line feature? The only hack/workaround that comes to mind would be to actually create a polygon that basically traces back along or around the original line feature ... but I'm not sure if that is really feasible (or wise). Maybe some other folks on this list will have better ideas.
