Ask and you shall receive. ZedX, Inc. provides a number of web services to clients in the agriculture industry. We chose OpenLayers because the company has a strong preference for utilizing OpenSource projects. It also allowed us the flexibility to adjust the interface and make additions to the API where necessary to fit our needs. We typically use the API for displaying maps via WMS servers with orthos, roads, streams, political boundaries, locations of pests (such as soybean rust), data recorded by clients such as where they applied chemicals with their tractors, and recommended chemical applications for the clients. We also use OpenLayers to allow our clients to create and modify their fields (paddocks for those of you in Australia) within our products where it is required.
So while we don't make full use of everything OpenLayers is capable of, we put it to good use utilizing what we need. -- Nathan Gerber Technical Lead for Agricultural Services ZedX, Inc. http://www.zedxinc.com On Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 11:48 AM, Christopher Schmidt < crschm...@metacarta.com> wrote: > Hi, > > One comment I've gotten from people attempting to use OpenLayers in > large organizations is that there is not a sufficient demonstration of > OpenLayers usage in their environment. > > One of the commonly mentioned ways to resolve this difficulty is "Case > Studies" -- expository pieces describing the use of OpenLayers within an > organization.
