well..
- get the length of all geometry - ST_Length(geometry) e.g length = 120.0 m
- what distance you want your new point e.g in 45.0 m then you do :
120x=45 /120
x=0.375
- then you do
select astext(ST_LINE_SUBSTRING(
ST_LineMerge(the_geom),
0, 0.375)) from table
- then get the last point of the new line geometry...
I think that is all :)
