Yes a 'snap to grid' setting for singleTile is what I'm looking for. I can't (efficiently) use tiles for this layer because it is a dynamically generated 'heat map' that I'm creating in a wms-like .net web service. Rendering it as individual tiles returns a very different image and I'd rather not render the entire image over and over only to clip it to the part I need. I guess I could expand the bounding box to half of each of the surrounding tiles and clip it, but that seems like a waste of resources.
