Subject: Unable to open DOCX with MS-WORD

I downloaded and installed the latest version of OpenOffice, primarily to
use Draw. I opened a Word document and saw that the default was the
OpenOffice word processor instead of MS-Word. So I uninstalled OpenOffice
using the Control Panel thinking that I would see if I could just install
Draw. Then I noticed that all the .docx icons had changed (but not the .doc
icons - see attached .gif). I started to panic when I tried to open a .docx
and I got a popup asking for my registration key. Naturally, I can't find
my registration disks. Curiously, there is no problem with the other
MS-Office documents (.xlsx, .accdb). Also I discovered a workaround: if I
click on the MS-Word icon I can then open a docx from inside MS-Word. Are
you aware of this issue and is there any way around it?

Just went thru a docx routine in LibreOffice. Was sent a file in docx.
Program opened the file and I edited it. Saved it in docx. Could not
even open it again in LO! Could not open it in WordPerfect either!
It might be a good idea to check the performance of OO for the
same problems. (It's too late at nite for me to do that. I didn't have
OO on the other computer, so used LO.)
