I suspect there are lots.

I'm using the "Word" component ...

There aint no such beast. OpenOffice has a word processor called Writer: is that what you mean?

my question to the group is "How do I set the LINE spacing to more than single - e.g. one and a half, two line spacing etc."?

Line spacing is a paragraph property as well as a paragraph style property. Right-click in the paragraph and select Paragraph... or Edit Paragraph Style... as appropriate. On the Indents & Spacing tab you can select line spacing as required. Note that your "one and a half" and "two" betray typewriter thinking; as you will see from the options available, word processors are much more flexible.

Alternatively, you can right-click and select Line Spacing > directly. This modifies the paragraph property, not the paragraph style property.

Er, "line spacing" is an entry in the help text in my copy; is it missing from yours?

... I find the "Excel" component very useful.

Another non-existent beast. OpenOffice's spreadsheet component is called Calc.

P. S. As a non American, I am fascinated with the inclusion of "Apache" in the software suite's title. Does hold any particular connotations?

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apache_Software_Foundation#History .

I trust this helps.
