Marion, Assuming that you had your hard drive replaced: 1) I'd retrieve them from my Time Machine backup (I use an inexpensive external 1 Terabyte hard drive) 2) I'd ask the person who replaced it to try and retrieve the files from the old hard drive. 3) Kiss them goodbye and start backing up the new hard drive
