Things are hind sight after most disasters. The "Open Source" Community should, 
in general, make it better known about these hijack sites, but responsibility 
still lies with the user. These risks exist with commercial software too.

Bleeding Heart was not anticipated. Still the disaster had to be dealt with by 
everyone in one way or another. These things happen and so do self inflicted 
wounds through downloads. Responsibility rests with the end user to be as aware 
as possible of risks. Precautions need to be taken in ANY situation when 
downloading programs from any site. Microsoft has had some hijacks of its own 
along with big banks and the like.

Be ever vigilant.
