Alt+I+D is shorthand for a keyboard shortcut.

The way, using menus, is to click Insert then Fields (on the Insert drop-down)
then Date (on the Fields drop-down)

Or Insert then Fields then Time

You will get whatever the default formatting for the fields are, and there is
no single sequence that gets Data and Time together.

The keyboard sequence Alt+I+D is carried out this way. Holding down the Alt
key, depress the I key. Then depress the D key. Then release the Alt key.
Then press Enter (or click on the name of another field if you want other than
the Date selection that is shown).

You can still ask for this as a feature. There is no assurance that it will be
implemented and, if so, when that will be.

Alternatively, you can use keyboard shortcuts. Insert -> Date is
assigned as Alt+I+D. You may need to change the default styling to suit
your needs.

I am flummoxed, please translate
Alt+I+D
 into layman's steps

Tried the "Insert" toolbar to the Toolbars, the tool bar on my laptop has
tiny icons and is so crowded it is not easy to read and use. Works
fine,thank you.
