I recommend you to go to Tools -> Options -> OpenOffice Calc -> View. On the visual aid you disable the grid lines, and then click ok. Now going to the zoom scale at the bottom right edge of the window you can select something like 50% and see how the pages are rendered on your spreadsheet and make the proper adjustments.
