The easiest way to do this and be certain all OpenOffice components are closed (on Windows, which you say you are using) is to start TaskManager (Ctrl Shift Esc). Kill all soffice processes shown as running on Taskmanager's Processes tab. You can ignore the warning about horrible things happening! Close TaskManager, and without restarting your computer, install OpenOffice 4.1.1.
