Kay, We have only heard of this, so far, in upgrades from Windows 8.1 Home to Windows 10 Home. The files were not read only before the upgrade.
I don't know of any reports of something like this for folks upgrading to Windows 8 or Windows 8.1. There probably needs to be a better place where this information and workaround instructions are captured. I don't think it is related to Download instructions though. That might only catch folks who are downloading and reinstalling in hope of curing the problem. I was thinking the forums might be better, once we are certain about the situation and its remedies. I think it is premature until we hear from more cases. - Dennis -----Original Message----- From: Kay Schenk [mailto:kay.sch...@gmail.com] Sent: Tuesday, August 18, 2015 13:26 To: users@openoffice.apache.org Subject: Re: FW: WINDOWS 10 HOME USERS: Possible Read-Only Solution [ ... ] Does anyone know if we've had similar issues for older "Home" editions of Windows? In any case, I think an added section on our Installation instructions for Windows would be a good idea. http://www.openoffice.org/download/common/instructions.html The "Home" edition is not mentioned at all.
