A few years ago I had a problem where an installer .exe downloaded from a
particular site would always then failed an integrity check when I attempted to
run it. While there were no size discrepancies, when I compared the binary
files of repeated downloads I would find byte differences.

It was all right if the file was obtained from an alternative site.

Later, after having increasing difficulty streaming videos, I worked with my
ISP troubleshooter to determine that it was a memory problem in my household
router/gateway. Large block sizes used in the arriving packets would be
subject to the defect. I replaced the residential router/gateway and that
particular problem has never recurred.

That is not to suggest you are having that problem. It just points out that
there are very many moving parts on the path from a download server and your
computer's hard drive [;<).
