There a few things which can be observed:
o The file is not a valid zip file, so is not a valid .ods file. (You
probably realised that.)
o Many bytes towards the beginning of the file represent an empty
(unused) area of your disk. What has happened has almost certainly
caused your operating system no longer to have an accurate record of
exactly where your document file is. In other words, what it delivers
to you (or to OpenOffice) is not the file itself but the contents of
some area of disk that may or may not contain some parts of the file.
While it is entirely understandable for you to suggest "this is the
file", the basic problem is likely to be that what you have here does
not contain the original document information, so it isn't "the file".
o Buried in what you have sent are the characters that should appear
at the very beginning of a valid .ods (zip) file. So you might have
the start of your .ods file preceded by irrelevant material.
Unfortunately, even if this is so, it doesn't mean that you can
recover anything.
o There are some short pieces of readable text (file paths) in the
file. Whilst this may seem promising, any actual text in the file
would have been obfuscated by the zipping process, so this too
illustrates that what you have is probably of no use.
Suggestions:
o Try this:
+ Go to OpenOffice | Preferences | OpenOffice | Paths.
+ Make a note of the path shown for Backups.
+ Outside OpenOffice (using your operating system's facilities),
navigate to that folder.
+ Is there a file with the same name as your document file but with
the .bak extension?
+ If so, *make a copy of this in one of your own folders*, rename
the copy to change its extension to the original .ods, and open this
file in OpenOffice.
There will be only a single previous version, and this will not be
helpful if you have saved the (corrupted) document since the problem
occurred. If there is no back-up file present, it may be that you do
not have this option selected. Go to OpenOffice | Preferences |
Load/Save | General | Save, and tick "Always create a backup copy".
That will be no help for the present problem, of course, but might
help you in the future.
o It is quite likely that your system's disk directory has problems,
and you will need to correct these before you continue working - or
you may lose further work. Run your operating system's disk-checking
routine, allowing it to correct any problems. This will almost
certainly not recover anything useful, but will prevent existing
corruption creating new problems.
o Institute a proper regime of making regular, frequent back-up
copies of all your work on a separate, external device.
o Meanwhile, start re-sourcing or re-creating your document.
Sorry this is not more helpful.
I trust this helps.
