It would help us to analyze your problem if you would provide the version number of your operating system; the version of OpenOffice that you are running; and the type of computer (laptop? desktop?).
A couple of suggestions that might work: Click on the Apple menu at the top of the screen; select “Force Quit…” from the menu. Then find OpenOffice in the Force Quit menu and select it. Click the button at the bottom, and it should be gone. If nothing else works, reboot the Mac and hold down the shift key while it reboots. It should restart with no applications running. If neither of those works, write back with as much information as you can provide. Somebody here is likely to know a way to fix this.
