Hi David,
Apache OpenOffice is free and there is no "Premium" edition. However,
Apache does not produce an edition for Apple IOS devices (eg. iPhone,
iPad, etc.) It sounds like your friend downloaded a third party app.

explains the position in more detail.
If your friend only needs to read, not edit, your document, send it to
her in PDF format (ie. From Writer's main menu use the "File -> Send ->
Email as PDF..." option.). The IOS PDF Reader is a free app.
